The EVANGELICAL FELLOWSHIP OF IRISH CLERGY was formed over sixty years ago, and seeks to provide its members with encouragement, refreshment and teaching from the Bible.

We want to see the clergy of the Church of Ireland equipped in biblical ministry, that Jesus Christ may be better known. Our aims are:

- to hear God's Word together,
- to be equipped for biblical ministry
- to make Jesus Christ known in Ireland with faithfulness, relevance and urgency.

Historically, evangelical convictions have been well summarised by the Irish scholar, T C Hammond.

The main features of evangelical belief are:

The Authority of Scripture (Article VI)

Justification by Faith alone (Article XI)

Assurance of Faith (see Cranmer's Homily on Faith)

Substitutionary Atonement (Article II)

"We must be people whose focus is on the gospel; its true understanding and its faithful proclamation in the power of the Spirit. The unity that matters to us and the only unity that matters, must be the unity created by God himself through this gospel, unity in this gospel."
John Woodhouse
